Conférence "Islande, le volcanisme en terre boréale" de Patrick Marcel

PREMANON | LE 23 Jan

Chèques vacances acceptés

Iceland owes its name to the ice caps that partially cover this northern land. But it is above all a hot island, born of volcanism, where more or less violent eruptions punctuate Icelandic life. A particular geodynamic context, as well as a stormy cohabitation between magma and ice, give rise to a wide variety of volcanic manifestations: vast fluid outpourings, as is currently the case in the Reykjanes peninsula, ash explosions like the famous Eyjafjallajökull... The volcanoes of the land of ice are not lacking in panache!
Patrick MARCEL is an associate professor of life and earth sciences at INSPÉ, Université de Franche-Comté, and a member of the European Volcanological Association and the Volcanological Society of Geneva.
Conference in partnership with the Université Ouverte - Université de Franche-Comté, as a "decentralised site of the UO".
