Patrice Bailly-Salins - Pioneer of biathlon

His sporting career began in 1983. He enrolled in the high mountain military school in Chamonix. From 1983 to 1988 he did triathlon: cross-country, giant slalom and shooting, this discipline disappeared in 1997, from then on he devoted himself to biathlon, winning numerous victories. He was the first French biathlete to win the world championship. In 1998, after the Nagano Olympic Games, he gave up competition and devoted himself to his ski resort Les Gentianes in Morbier. In June 2008, he was appointed coordinating coach of the French pole in Prémanon by the French federation. He will take up this position from September 1st 2008 and will ensure the daily follow-up and permanence of the training

He has an impressive list of achievements

- 4 individual French championship titles and one team title

- Bronze medal in relay at the Lillehammer Olympic Games in 1994

- Gold medal in sprint at the World Championships in Anterseleva in 1995

- Silver medallist in relay at the World Championships in Anterseleva in 1995

- Won 6 World Cup races and won the 1994 World Cup.
